You know how they say not to judge book by the cover? However true that might be, packaging is always the first thing that draws us to consumables. It is no different (and maybe even more true!) in case of cosmetics, and Origins got the game right with Original Skin range!

Current trends opt for minimal designs, classy and elegant, with calligraphic fonts, which I can’t say I don’t love. That is why those pale pink tubes and jars are most eye-pleasing… and will look so good on your shelfies! 😉

However, being a reliable and honest beauty blogger, I also need to address what’s inside. So, for all of you who are interested in more than shelfies, I reviewed four products from the Original Skin range, from my least favourite one to an absolute skincare love.

Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay

As you can see, it did not even make it to the photo… This mask did nothing to me, which also means it did not do me any harm. Mask junkie as I am, I have many that excel and I definitely don’t need to keep one that just drains my wallet. The good news is that it actually comes in a single use pods, so you can see for yourself if it does anything for you and not spent a fortune on that experiment.

Cleansing Makeup Removing Jelly with Willowherb

By now you would know that jelly cleansers are my thing (and if you don’t, check out my posts on Tołpa Micellar Gel and Drunk Elephant Beste Jelly Cleanser). This one here is a decent choice. As compared to the other two, it is a little thicker in consistency, and doesn’t really have any specific smell. It works, but don’t expect wonders. Ingredients-wise it is not a clean choice, as it contains some suspicious substances (like PEG-7). Also, willowherb (Epilobium Angustifolium) is listed somewhere in the middle of the ingredients list. Not so great. And then, there is a price point – TBH, jelly cleansers are a big subject right now and I am sure you will be able to find something cheaper than this one. Try Tołpa, for instance. Just sayin’ 😉

Original Skin Pore Perfecting Cooling Primer with Willowherb

Oh, boy, isn’t this a fun product? Before I get into details let me just say how thrilled I was for a novel idea introduced in the makeup game! For those of you who don’t know this product – it is a makeup primer in the form of a foam/mousse. It is released from the tin under pressure and looks like a skin tint (no coloring or concealing properties, tho).

This primer will blur your skin, cool your face and hold your makeup. The refreshing factor makes it my ultimate choice these hot summer days on the desert. The primer smells like orange Fanta (again, if you know me, you know that vast majority of Origins skincare smells like orange Fanta to me). The only thing that bothers me is the crunchy sound you hear when you apply it on the face – that’s air bubbles making their way out of the mousse. Just a warning for those faint of hearts and definitely not a reason to stop me from repurchasing this funny thing.

Original Skin Matte Moisturizer with Willowherb

Last but not least: my new skincare love! A light mattifying cream that sinks in within seconds and works perfectly under makeup! Although I am not an oily kinda gal, I greatly appreciate its assistance on these very hot days we have. However, I shared a sample of this cream with my oily skin friend and she also loved it, so I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with issues with shiny face. This cream is available in a small jar, so you can give it a try and not regret it if it does not work. But I’m telling you, it will J A little goes a long way, which makes it a very efficient purchase too. Honestly, it is my mattifying holy Grail. Would be perfect if it was not for that orange Fanta smell 😀

There are two more products in the line that I am willing to try – a serum, which I will probably get in Poland, and the essence water I just purchased and have not yet used. I guess this is actually the Original Skin part 1 then. Let me know if you know this range and what are your thoughts on it!

Have a good one!
